A leading 8K planetarium in Colombia

We are thrilled the leading interactive science museum, Parque Explora in Medellin, Colombia, home to the Planetario de Medellin, selected us for the renovation of the planetarium’s system.

Bringing yet another leading planetarium powered by RSA Cosmos – Konica Minolta to South America!

We installed in the 15m dome 5x 4K 10,000 lumens VPL-GTZ380 Sony projectors along with SkyExplorer, achieving stunning journeys through the Universe.

Sony’s VPL-GTZ380 projectors reach 10,000 lumens through a phosphor laser light source, achieve very high levels of contrasts thanks to the SXRD 4K panels, and offer rich colors reproducing 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut without losing any brightness.
By combining Sony’s projectors and our powerful software SkyExplorer, the highest image quality and rendering were achieved with the finest level of pixel, offering stunning and realistic images in real time.

To take the immersive experience to the next level, we also installed powerful interactive and interconnected tools.
Starting with our unequalled technology the Full Tablet Control, enabling planetarium operators to enjoy the exact same graphical user interface and content on the tablet & on the dome, and interact with the audience directly from the dome. Also a gamepad bringing smoother controls to fly through Saturn’s rings or around our 3D Volumetric Milky Way for example and can even be handed over to the audience to let them play.

A stunning planetarium to discover in a leading science museum!

Parque Explora is home to the planetarium, and also an aquarium with an Amazonian emphasis, a public workshop of experimentation: Exploratory, and more than 300 interactive experiences within the science museum for the social appropriation of scientific and technological knowledge.
It is located in the northern area of Medellin, a vigorous social meeting place and a symbol of social transformation through education.

Many thanks to Parque Explora and the planetarium team for this fantastic project.
We are thrilled the planetarium team are now part of our SkyExplorer community!
