Techmania Science Center choose RSA Cosmos for the upgrade of its14m 3D planetarium

RSA Cosmos is proud to announce the complete renovation of the Techmania Science Center Planetarium in Pilsen (Czech Republic), delivered alongside our long-standing local partner Nowatron. Scheduled for installation in the first quarter of 2026, this project marks a major milestone for one of the country’s leading science centers.

Integrated at the heart of Techmania Science Center, the planetarium plays a key role in making science accessible, engaging, and inspiring for audiences of all ages in Czech Republic.

A 14m 3D planetarium designed for immersive science

As part of the planetarium upgrade, the existing 14-meter diameter dome, tilted at 15°, will be equipped with an upgraded full 3D projection system, delivering a deeply immersive experience. The visual system will rely on five Barco QDX N4K25 projectors, achieving a real 6K resolution with very high brightness, perfectly suited for demanding fulldome and 3D content, along with a significantly upgraded audio system to enhance immersion.

This setup is designed to elevate both scientific accuracy and the sense of wonder, allowing visitors to truly feel immersed in the cosmos.

SkyExplorer at the core: endless possibilities for exploration

At the heart of the system lies the SkyExplorer software suite, widely recognized as the most powerful astronomical software available today. Covering all galaxies and scales of the universe, SkyExplorer opens the door to endless possibilities for live sessions, educational programs, and immersive experiences.
With a new release of the SkyExplorer suite delivered every year, Techmania will benefit from continuous innovations and long-term access to the latest advancements for many years to come.

“After years of supporting the team with Nowatron, we can finally equip the Techmania planetarium with an ultra-high-performance system using our unmatched SkyExplorer software suite,” says Bahar Gumus, Senior Sales Manager at RSA Cosmos. “It is a great source of pride for us to bring this iconic venue to the cutting edge of technology.”

Content that educates, inspires, and captivates

As part of the project, Techmania Science Center will also acquire five fulldome shows, including H2O: The Cosmic State of Water and Hazelnuts: In Search of The Perfect Planet, both exclusively distributed by RSA Cosmos. All films are scientifically accurate and designed to combine education with strong cultural and emotional storytelling.
