OPENING CEREMONY OF THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF ASTRONOMY
15-16 of January 2009 - UNESCO Paris (France) |
After the "Grand Palais" in Paris in November, you could visit again the exhibition for the European mission Planck which took place on January 15th and 16th, 2009 during the opening ceremony of the International Year of Astronomy at the UNESCO in Paris (France). RSA Cosmos is a partner of this event, and has supplied the computer system, the projection system and the software. This exhibition presents the European satellite project Planck in all its aspects. This scientific mission's goal is to map the Universe by measuring the first lights emitted 13 billion years ago. The measurement of this cosmic background radiation will enable to better understand the history and the birth of the Universe. France plays an important role in this European project. |

On this occasion, in partnership with the agency Canopée, we present an international exclusivity: a 10m mobile planetarium! Travel into space and time is ensured thanks to a real 360° projection. The 10m dome is maintained in over-pressure with an entry doorway and an exit doorway. In the centre of the dome there is a fish-eye projector, and a model of the satellite Planck turns around this projector. |

Computer generated images are projected on the screen. They represent what the satellite will get during its mission, as well as information about the flight of Ariane rocket and the trajectory of the satellite to arrive to the Lagrange points. |
